About Dr. Kelly Bin Kong

Dr Kelly Bin Kong - Kongs Acupuncture

Where it All Began

My journey as a healer and founder of Kong’s Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine Clinic began in my hometown of Shanghai, China. As a child, I struggled with seasonal allergies that deeply impacted my daily life. My parents often brought me to a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) doctor, and the results were always remarkable. These early experiences sparked a deep curiosity and a lifelong passion for healing.

By the time I finished high school, I knew I wanted to help others the same way I had been helped. My path was clear: I would become a TCM doctor.

The Dream Takes Shape

To pursue this dream, I was accepted into the prestigious Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, one of China’s top medical institutions. I’ll never forget the moment I was admitted—it felt like the beginning of a meaningful life mission.

After five years of rigorous training in Chinese Herbal Medicine, Acupuncture, and Biomedicine, I graduated in 1994 with a Bachelor’s degree in Medicine (B.Med). I was honored as one of the top graduates and began my clinical journey at Shanghai Longhua Hospital, a leading TCM hospital. There, I served as both a resident doctor and a trainer, gaining extensive hands-on experience across multiple departments. This period shaped me into the doctor I am today.

A New Chapter in South Africa

In 1997, I felt called to share Traditional Chinese Medicine with a broader community. I relocated to Johannesburg, South Africa, where I opened my own clinic. It was an exciting and fulfilling chapter that allowed me to serve a diverse population and help bring TCM to the forefront of integrative healthcare in the region.

Over the years, I became one of the most active promoters of TCM in South Africa, often appearing on national TV and radio to educate the public. In recognition of my contributions, I was elected as an Executive Member of the World Federation of Acupuncture-Moxibustion Societies (WFAS) in 2017. I also served as Chairperson of the South African Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine Association (SAACMA) from 2015 to 2019.

Comming to America

In 2020, after many years apart from my children who were studying in Texas, I made the bittersweet decision to leave South Africa and reunite with my family in Fort Worth, Texas. That same year, I established Kong’s Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine Clinic.

True to my passion for lifelong learning, I enrolled at the American College of Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine in 2023. In 2024, I was honored to receive my Doctor of Acupuncture degree with a specialization in Chinese Herbal Medicine (DACM). This advanced study was a deeply enriching experience, and I remain grateful to my professors and fellow students for their support.

My Passion and My Purpose

With over 30 years of clinical experience, I specialize in treating a wide range of conditions, including:

  • Pain management
  • Female and male infertility
  • Anxiety and depression
  • Digestive issues
  • Skin disorders
  • Sinus and allergies
  • Bell’s palsy
  • Cancer survivorship support
  • Stroke rehabilitation, and more

At Kong’s Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine Clinic, I don’t just treat symptoms, I treat a person as a whole. My goal is to uncover and address the root causes of illness so that healing is deep, lasting, and empowering.

Each patient is seen as a unique individual, not just a number. I believe that with compassion, patience, and the right care, most of the obstacles on the path to wellness can be overcome. I go the extra mile for my patients because I genuinely care and want to see them thrive.

My Guiding Principle

At the heart of my practice is the belief:

“With a kind heart and good skill, a healer can offer optimal service to their patients.”

The greatest reward in my work is seeing my patients achieve long-lasting well-being in body, mind, and spirit.
